Welcome to the Nonsense Team Website!

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I am delighted to welcome you to the official webpage of the Nonsense Team. Despite our playful name, we conduct rigorous and meaningful scientific research, as you can discover in our videos and research focus.

Our team is based at the University of Palermo (https://www.unipa.it), founded in 1806 and recognized as one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious universities. Its origins trace back to the 15th century when educational activities were first introduced by the Jesuits. Over the centuries, it has become a leading academic institution in Sicily, significantly contributing to the region's cultural and scientific progress.

Today, UNIPA is a dynamic, multidisciplinary university with 16 departments covering science, technology, medicine, law, and the humanities. It is internationally recognized for its research in fields such as biomedicine, cultural heritage, energy and environmental sustainability. The University of Palermo actively participates in international collaborations and European research projects, strengthening its role as a hub for innovation and global academic partnerships.

Our laboratories are located at the STEBICEF Department, the University campus in Palermo, the vibrant capital of Sicily. Palermo is a city rich in history, culture, and architectural beauty. Founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BCE, it has been shaped by the influence of the Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans. This diverse heritage is reflected in its stunning landmarks, such as the Palermo Cathedral, the Palatine Chapel, the lively Ballarò and Vucciria markets.
Today, Palermo thrives as a dynamic city known for its mild Mediterranean climate, lively street culture, and world-famous cuisine. As a cultural center, it hosts numerous theaters, museums, and festivals, blending ancient traditions with contemporary influences—a truly captivating Mediterranean destination.

Our research currently focuses on Precision Medicine, particularly—though not exclusively—on nonsense readthrough strategies. The dedicated sections of this website provide more information about our research topics and interests.
